Taunton’s students who are either learning Italian or sing in the Southampton Youth Choir, or both, spent five days in Italy recently.

The eighteen students and two staff stayed at the homes of students from our partner school in Treviglio, near Milan.

Each morning was spent at school where special Italian lessons were provided. Also, students had the opportunity to attend some lessons with their Italian partners.

Excursions to Milan and Venice proved popular, with the latter destination a highlight for many.

“Both cities we visited were equally amazing but the canals and St Mark’s cathedral in Venice were beautiful,” says Sharlotte Good (formerly Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill).

“The Italians are very family orientated and mealtimes meant so much food,” says April Burrow (formerly Chamberlayne College of the Arts).

The Southampton Youth choir gave two concerts during the visit, both of which were very well received by local residents.
